The government gave award to 12 companies operating in the food and agribusiness-related sectors for their recent investments in the country’s six economic corridors under the Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesian Development, or popularly known under its local abbreviation of MP3I.
The Food Security Award was given during the Food Security Summit 2012 on Wednesday in Jakarta. “The award was given because the 12 companies have realized their projects in six economic corridors,” said Franky Widjaja, Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Kadin). Franky is also Chairman of PT SMART, a palm oil giant owned by the Sinar Mas Group conglomerate.
The 12 companies include cocoa processing company PT Bumi Tangerang Mesindotama (with investment of Rp 800 billion), PT Karya Indah Alam Sejahtera (Rp 360 billion), food products manufacturer PT Tiga Pilar Sejahtera Food (Rp 2.2 trillion), PT Sukses Mantap Sejahtera (Rp 2.7 trillion), PT Nestle Indonesia (Rp 1.8 trillion), PT SMART (Rp 1.47 trillion), PT Great Giant Pineapple (Rp 1,9 trillion), PT Agri Makmur Pertiwi (Rp 50 billion), PT Bina Mentari Tunggal (Rp 300 billion), PT Laju Indah Perdana Indah (Indofood Grou, Rp 2,5 trillion), PT Tri Putra Agro Persada (Rp 100 billion) and PT Bakrie Sumatera Plantation (Rp. 1,8 trillion).
