Merauke regent Romanus Mbaraka recently stated that the regional government will not hesitate in revoking previously released location permits if the related agriculture investors continue to delay their investments.
The statement was released in response to the current condition in Merauke, Papua where license holding companies have not revealed significant investment in their lands.
"I have sent warning letters to a number of companies, re-confirming their commitment in Merauke," he said Wednesday.
Regional government data revealed at least 48 companies have submitted their investment plans within the Merauke Integrated Food and Energy Estate program, all of which have granted location permits.
Among the 48, only the Korean based PT Dongin Prabhawa (Korindo Grup), PT Medco Papua Industri Lestari, PT Selaras Inti Semesta (both from Medco Group) and PT Cenderawasih Jaya Mandiri (Rajawali Group) have shown investment progress. (eaz)
