Bank Mandiri, Indonesia’s largest bank by assets, projected lending to the agro-based industry to increase by 17 percent in 2012.
Vice President for Agro Based Corporate Banking, Rafjon Yahya was quoted by Seputar Indonesia as saying Friday agro-based lending will continue to be focused on oil palm plantation and its downstream industry such as refinery.
As of November 2012, the bank’s outstanding loan to the agro-based industry totaled Rp 36.5 trillion, Rp 28 trillion of which went to plantations, and between Rp 8-8.5 trillion to the refinery sector, he said.
Rafjon said that the bank plans to increase lending to the refinery sector this year. (rei)
