State-owned food crop seed producer PT Sang Hyang Seri will cut down the production of non-hybrid seeds this year as the company is reducing dependence on government projects.
Sang Hyang President Director Eddy Budiono said on Thursday that non-hybrid seeds are mostly used in government-sponsored agriculture programs, which are now increasingly difficult to obtain. Therefore, he said, the company would focus on increasing the production of hybrid seeds.
The company, for instance, plans to increase the production of hybrid rice seeds this year by 29.21 percent to 6,860 tons.
Meanwhile, revenue is projected to increase by 10.63 percent to Rp 3.24 trillion. (rei)
