Indonesia Australia Forest Carbon Partnership (IAFCP) Facility is funded by Australian Aid-managed by IDSS Pty Ltd. and Euroconsult Mott MacDonald on behalf of AusAID. IAFCP Facility is seeking a GIS / Remote Sensing Specialist to work on Indonesia’s National Carbon Accounting System (INCAS) for 6 months.

 

The IAFCP is supporting the Government of Indonesia to develop a National Carbon Accounting System. Indonesia’s National Carbon Accounting System will provide a comprehensive and credible account of Indonesia’s land based emissions profile and sinks capacity.

 

The INCAS GIS/Remote Sensing Specialist will work for the IAFCP facility and work closely with the INCAS Advisor, Government of Indonesia and GOI appointed seconded. The position is full-time for six months and based in Jakarta. She/he will responsible for obtaining and managing existing spatial data including maps of forest types, soil, peat, elevation, slope, rainfall. administrative boundaries; assisting other INCAS specialists to prepare spatial data and spatial analysis required for the INCAS; liaising with th Indonesian National Space Agency (LAPAN) to obtain land cover change outputs in an appropriate format; analysis remote sensing data to differentiate undisturbed and disturbed forest; manipulate spatial data to support biomass analysis; developing a digital biomass map showing the spatial location of biomass class boundaries; developing a map of annual human induced change in forest area by biomass classes; calculating the area of annual change by biomass classes; and providing data outputs in required formats.

 

Applicants should have relevant a Bachelor degree in a relevant field, and more than 5 years experience in spatial analysis, database management, and understanding of forest attribution.
