Indonesia imported 2.75 million tons of rice in 2011 worth about US$1.5 billion, according to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).
The BPS statistics revealed that the largest of the rice import came from Vietnam, totaling 1.78 million tons worth $946.5 million.
Rice imported from Thailand reached 938.7 thousand tons worth $533 million, while from China 4,700 tons worth $6.1 million tons, and 10,200 tons from other countries worth $5.8 million. (rei).
