Deputy Minister of Agriculture Rusman Heriawan recently said that the Government's Purchase Price (HPP) for rice should go up between 27 to 28 percent from the regulated HPP in 2009.

"The percentage is the result of the agreement between the Indonesian Bureau of Logistics, the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture, but it is not fixed yet. We will talk this further with the Coordinating Minister of Economy," he said, adding that the official percentage should come up at the end of January.

According to the Presidential Instruction Number 7 Year 2009, HPP for rice husks reached Rp2,640 per kilogram, now lower than the local prices at Rp2,685 per kilogram. (eaz)
