The General Manager of the Indonesian Horticultural Seed Producers Association (Hortindo) Afrizal Gindow recently said in Jakarta that Indonesia might not be free from horticultural seed imports until 2015.
"We're continuously pushing for bigger production capacity. The nation's production level only reached between 6,000 to 7,000 tons, which requires around 4,000 tons of imported seeds to comply with the demands," he said, predicting 10 to 15 percent increase of domestic horticultural seed sales in 2012 from around Rp 600 billion this year.
